Making baking fun for kids

By adding  food colouring to some batter this treat is extra fun.  Just put it in the centre of other batter. Then just baked the loaf.. It was so cute and fun to eat.  Just a simple way to make baking fun for kids( it is fun to look at and eat ).

Families in the studio. Whether it is a newborn, a family or a two month old the way I take pictures is about the same.  Take my time to get the shot, try and pay attention to details all while trying to see if everyone is looking and smiling and of course, have the studio comfortable. For babies, that means extra warm.   This little baby is two months old. She didn't love to sleep at this stage but I think in the end we got some great shots.  We tickled under her chin to get her to make his little smirk expression.  Hope you like it!

Photographing a puppy

So our new pup went to the vets yesterday and the little man weighs 28.6lbs at 11.5 weeks.  I think he is gonna grow up and be a very big boy.  Vet said, he is doing great and see us in a month for the rabies shot.  We will take our other girl ( our Brindle English Mastiff) with us then too as she will need a booster.

Anyways, today I will be photographing Hades in studio.  He is just learning is sit & stay commands so I will get some help as I don't want him jumping down from a prop or such.  My son is home today ( bus cancelled due to fog) so having him as an assistant is great!  Plus, nice to work with him off and on.  Puppies can be very difficult to capture, sometimes they look too sad as they don't know what you are doing , sometimes they are just to curious and won't sit still.  So, you never know how it is going to go.  I use treats, squeaker toys and praise to try and get great shots.   Wish me luck!!  

Good Morning

This morning I decided to drive my kiddo to school so we could have some time together. The drive was nice, conversation was important and the time is priceless.  Our son is getting older now and mornings like this just help keep some communications going.  Plus, who doesn't want a coffee at 7am LOL.

Anne Geddes Inspiration

 

A cute little snail and a tree frog portrait, inspiration is of course, Anne Geddes.  Just love these and I hope you do too.  Baby must be asleep for these poses ( or at least it makes it 100% easier). Warm studio  and  sometimes I use my Ipod with baby heartbeat music on it to help soothe them. Often the ipod is just tucked beside baby out of camera way.  The tree trunk is real but I have towels and a soft cushion underneath( cushion is a vibrating foot rest that squishes in for a comfortable place for baby to relax. The vibrating motion keeps them sleeping.  Can be purchased at most super centre stores.   Most of moss in first picture is real but photographed when close to baby so that it wasn't really on her.   At all times mom is inches away from baby if not holding and hands get photoshopped out. 

Brothers

Sometimes large age gaps in siblings can be difficult to photograph in studio, but here is a good example of a simple pose that shows age gap and how it can be used for cuteness!  Comment if you like it.  Originally, I wanted the little one to lay down on his tummy facing his brother, but then he sat up and I love it.

Models for stock photography work.

Often I offer free images if people agree to sign a release so I can use images for my stock photography portfolio. Sometimes the photo shoot is about family, concepts or even just daily activities.  I get images to use and you get free pictures for yourself.  Let me know if you are interested.  Models must not wear clothing with labels or logos on them , usually isolated

Shocked - google maps captured a very special day

Google maps captured the day we did a fundraiser for my terminally ill father. We raised enough to take him on a very special "Make a wish trip ~ sport fishing in B.C ". What are the odds that google maps photographed that same day. You can see by comparing to the second image.. you can see the tents, the sign at road and more.. Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Valentine's day Session

It is hard to believe that it is time to start booking in for Valentine's when we just got through New years.. but yet, it is LOL.     These sessions, I must admit I look forward too. Fun new props in studio, less pressure than Christmas ones.  Kids can just be silly in these .  As for the grown ups... Beautiful boudoir images are taken to share with loved ones. A session to bring out your inner sexy without exposing yourself too much. My studio doesn't do nudity.. just what appears to be.  Classy and sexy and not too over the top.

Good Bye 2012

This image, is of my son and father. We fund raised at our home( with the support of my family and amazing customers) and took him on a MAKE A WISH TRIP. Off to Vancouver Island to go Sportfishing.

Just seeing this smile, brings tears to my eyes. He was so happy!

2012 was a very rough year from my family, our Poppi passed away from Colon Cancer and then my father also passed just this September. He had been battling it for a couple years.  Every time the phone  rang I was worried it was about dad, if I got a text.. again scared.  I spent many days a week taking care of dad and it took its toll on my household for awhile.. Although my heart breaks that dad and Poppi are gone. I am hoping that 2013 will bring some comfort to my home, and maybe a more relaxing year.   Now.. not all was bad, even with Dad dealing with his illness,we still created many new memories. In fact, I believe when he passed we were more like friends. That has given me some peace of mind.. I love you Dad and miss you. Good bye 2012, and hello to a fresh start.
